    USAID, Sindh Government break ground at Karachi school

    U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director Gregory Gottlieb and Sindh Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhro broke ground at the Damba Goath government school in Gadap Town. The event kicked off USAID-funded school construction in Karachi, under its Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP).

    United States Ambassador to Pakistan Richard G. Olson launched Lincoln Corner Quetta at the University of Balochistan’s Law College, presenting a gift of 150 books for the new facility. U.S. Consul General Brian Heath, University of Balochistan Law College Vice Chancellor Javeid Iqbal, and Principal Amanullah Achakazai, as well as Pakistan U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) Quetta Chapter members, attended a ceremony commemorating the opening. The U.S. Ambassador and Consul General were in Quetta to meet with government officials, politicians and leaders of civil society.

Earlier, Mr. Heath and his team met with provincial government officials to talk about economic priorities.

    U.S. Consul General Brian Heath visited the Balochistan Assembly to engage in dialogue and discuss U.S. assistance programs. Balochistan Assembly Speaker Jan Muhammad Jamali hosted the U.S. Consulate General Karachi delegation, which included representatives from its Political and Economic Section. Later, Mr. Heath visited the Assembly’s Library and Resource Center, both of which were funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

    Ambassador of the United States Richard G. Olson and Sindh Senior Minister for Education Nisar Ahmad Khuhro inaugurated the newly constructed Department of Teacher Education building at the University of Karachi funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The building is a state-of-the art, fully handicapped accessible, eco-friendly facility that is equipped with dedicated Wi-Fi and media libraries that will serve students and faculty of the university.

    United States Ambassador Richard G. Olson signed an agreement to launch a vocational training program to empower Pakistani youth at the Aman Foundation’s headquarters in Karachi. The Youth Workforce Development Program will provide practical job training to under-served Pakistani youth in Sindh.
