About Michael Dodman
Michael Dodman, Consul General, U.S. Consulate Karachi
Consul General Michael Dodman arrived in Karachi in July, 2012. He is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service with over 25 years of experience focused on economic engagement.
Mr. Dodman’s assignments have largely focused on economies in transition. During two assignments in Warsaw and one in Prague, Mr. Dodman worked to support the transition from communism to these countries’ membership in NATO and the European Union. As Economic Officer in Ankara Mr. Dodman worked to promote a broad-based economic partnership between the United States and Turkey. As Economic Counselor in Baghdad, Mr. Dodman led a large team of U.S. officials working on economic development and transitioning from military- to civilian-led assistance. His most recent assignment was Economic Counselor at the U.S. Mission to the European Union in Brussels, where he focused on boosting transatlantic economic growth.
Mr. Dodman graduated from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and has Masters Degrees from Princeton University and Boston University. He is married and has four children.
