Passports
Applications for new and replacement U.S. passports are accepted in the Consulate by appointment only. Lost passport applications must be accompanied by a police report with English translation. To allow for processing time, please visit the consular section well in advance of travel plans.
To apply for a passport, you need the following:
- Proof of U.S. citizenship (a previous passport, birth certificate, naturalization certificate, registration with the Embassy, etc.)
- Two 2" by 2" (5 cm by 5cm) color or black and white photos. Polaroid photographs cannot be accepted.
- Completed application form.
- Application fee.
NOTE: As of July 2, 2001, BOTH parents must sign passport applications for children under 14, and both parents must have sufficient ID and the child's birth certificate. If one parent cannot be present, they must send a letter saying they do not object to the issuance of a passport to the child. If a parent is deceased, the remaining parent must bring the original death certificate. If the parents are divorced, the applying parent must bring the divorce decree. If one parent has sole custody, they must bring the court order granting custody.
