Sponsored by American Voices Jazz and supported by the U.S. Embassy’s Public Affairs section, Mike del Ferro will also be performing in Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar.

American Jazz Pianist Mike Del Ferro Conducts Music Workshop At NAPA
American pianist Mike Del Ferro conducted an intensive two-hour music workshop on Monday at National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) arranged by the Public Affairs section, U.S. Consulate, Karachi. “It’s a pleasure to welcome Mike Del Ferro to Karachi. I hope you all will enjoy the workshop by this highly sought-after pianist and composer,” stated Public Affairs Officer of the U.S. Consulate Karachi Karen Heimsoth while welcoming guests at NAPA. Mike Del Ferro found playing for the students at NAPA “an enthralling experience” and said he would “love to come back to this fine academy.” He said that NAPA “is doing a fantastic job keeping the music alive.” (complete text)

Launch Of International Container Security Project To Speed Flow Of Goods From Pakistan To U.S.: Charge d’Affaires Bodde The U.S. Charge d’Affaires, Peter W. Admiral Mullen For Enduring, Growing Partnership Between Pakistan, U.S. Navies U.S. Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Michael G. Mullen visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah during his visit to Karachi and laid a floral wreath. He also visited Pakistan Navy Tactical School and Naval Aviation Training School in Karachi on Tuesday. U.S. Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Michael G. U.S Diplomat Stresses The Empowerment Of Women Senior Adviser to the Secretary of State for Women’s Empowerment, Ambassador Shirin Tahir-Kheli, has emphasized the commitment of Secretary Condoleezza Rice and President Bush “to sustained efforts to improve the political, social and economic standing of women.” “Fifty-two percent of the population is women. U.S Ambassador Stresses Enduring Ties With Pakistan U.S. Ambassador Ryan C. Crocker emphasized America’s "strategic and enduring relationship with Pakistan" at all meetings during his farewell visit today to Karachi. The Ambassador led the U.S. Consulate’s memorial ceremony for the first anniversary of the March 2, 2006, consulate bombing that killed two U.S. Government employees, including American diplomat, David Foy, and Pakistani staff member, Iftikhar Ahmed. "In our strategic and long-term relationship with Pakistan, we are all together continuing the fight against extremism," Ambassador Crocker stated. U.S. Naval Relief Ship Arrives In Karachi A U.S. Navy vessel ferrying almost 140 tons of urgently needed earthquake donations arrived today, making its second relief trip in a week to the port of Karachi. The USS Pearl Harbor arrived carrying blankets and nonperishable food items donated by Pakistanis living in the United Arab Emirates. The U.S. carrier was greeted on arrival by a group of young Pakistani disaster assistance volunteers who participated in the offloading of relief supplies for earthquake victims. The 13 Pakistani youth, ages 15-21, were accompanied by a small group of their parents as they greeted the ship dockside.(complete text)
