This Warden Notice is to notify American citizens that Gulf Air, Emirates Airlines, and Saudi Airlines have suspended services to and from Peshawar International Airport while Qatar Airways has resumed flights to Peshawar International Airport. The suspension of service by Etihad Airways, announced in a Warden Notice on July 9, 2009, continues. Airblue, Pakistan International Airlines, and Shaheen Air International continue to provide international passenger service to and from Peshawar International Airport. Rockets were fired in the direction of the airport early in the morning of July 8, 2009, but this incident had no impact on the operations of the airport. For further information on the suspension and its duration, American citizens are advised to contact these air carriers directly.
The Embassy reiterates its advice to all Americans to take measures for their safety and security at all times. These measures include maintaining good situational awareness, avoiding crowds and demonstrations and keeping a low profile. Americans should avoid setting patterns by varying times and routes for all required travel. Americans should ensure that their travel documents and visas are valid at all times.
